And on the third day…

Back to work today. I was the second to arrive and I wasn’t early at all. Further enthusiasm for the return to work amongst others in my unit, was reflected by their absenteeism. Ok, they might call it recreation leave or sick leave. Whatever. I just wish I had the option too. Being paid to not be at work, as many public servants and salaried employees are, is not a luxury I have. Its something I aspire to though 🙂

Now, to my new year resolutions and how well I’m doing… it’s always good to focus on the positives.

  • 2 veges and a fruit a day – so far, fair effort. I went to yum cha with my brother’s family on New Year’s Day and made myself eat some pak choi in oyster sauce. I LOVE yum cha. I struggle with the base of the pak choi leaves. Its texture is akin to celery. Slightly steamed celery. I actually gagged at one point.

(I googled yum cha images and came across this. Doesn’t this lovely lady suggest that the dining on dim sum and sipping on green tea is a desirable experience?)

Other resolutions I have for this year include, exercising more and regularly (again, an un-original one), blogging/journaling regularly (duh), and saving money. Well, some money since I’d really like to go on a trip or two this year. Not globe-trotting or anything – my budget still tells me that’s in the distant future. But I’d like to get out of town awhile and visit a few friends who live down in the big smokes. Plural smokes because my friends have not coordinated themselves well enough to all live in the same place, let alone within driving distance of myself.

But enough about me. Here is an apparently random question creating a segue to a funny I came across today: Any George R.R. Martin fans out there? Or Game of Thrones fans?

I read the first 3 tomes years ago and one day I will pick them up and re-read them so I can get my head around things leading into the rest of the series.

Anyway, while reading a post on Oh No They Didn’t  about “what if famous authors had written Twilight” (the original post was by Lizzie Stark on her blog), I spotted this gem amongst the comments:

(A love scene from Twilight if it was written by George R.R. Martin – credit to limberwolf

Bella’s soft satin robes were as useless to Edward as nipples on a breastplate. With one swift motion, he ripped them off, as he had done half a hundred times, diving into Bella’s warm mound. Her hot juices flowed down his beard. “Jacob,” Bella moaned. Edward recoiled. “She’s been fucking Lancel and Osmund Kettleblack and Moon Boy for all I know,” he thought to himself angrily. “I’m sorry, my love! Words are wind,” sighed Bella, her nipples glistening in the darkness like slices of Dornish blood sausage. (Read more here)

And with that, I bid you good night! 🙂
